Dr. Jonathan Calure was one of the first surgeons in the Baltimore- Washington- Annapolis region to perform VNUS Closure. He first started performing Vein Care while he was actively practicing Cardiac Surgery at the Washington Adventist Hospital. He founded Maryland Vein Professionals in 2006 with the mission of being Maryland's Premier Vein Care Specialty practice. In the three years following, the practice has grown to 5 offices and over 35 staff, including 3 Physicians, 5 nurse practitioners, 7 sclerotherapists, 4 sonographers, 6 administrative staff, and 14 technical assistants.Maryland Vein Professionals is the largest outpatient specialty vein practice by volume in the State of Maryland, and averages over 200 new patients per month. Unlike others in the region who offer vein care only as a sidelight to another specialty, MVP is dedicated exclusively to the latest techniques of minimally invasive vein care. Using VNUS Closure exclusively, Dr. Calure currently performs more RF ablations than any other single physician in the United States, more than 120 per month.

Dr. Calure has seen international physician referrals from as far away as South America and Russia. More than eight hundred local referring physicians send patients our way in addition to countless patients who have referred their friends and family after a great experience and results with us. In 2008 Dr. Michael Banker joined MVP. Dr Banker is a distinguished Cardiac Surgeon who hails from the New York Region. Dr. Banker is Board Certified in both Cardiovascular and General Surgery. He has the distinction of being the former Director of Cardiac Surgery at the University of New Jersey School of Medicine and Dentistry. With over a decade of experience in Cardiovascular Surgery, Dr. Banker was a welcome addition to the MVP team.
Additionally, in 2008, Dr. James Laredo joined MVP as the director of the Vascular Ultrasound Lab. Dr. Laredo and Dr. Calure have known each other since Medical School. Dr. Laredo is also a Professor of Vascular Surgery at Georgetown University, and the Director of The Vein Care Program at GU. His area of expertise is in both endovascular and open vascular surgery. He is board certified in both Surgery and Vascular Surgery.
MVP has expanded to five locations in Maryland: Columbia (2), Annapolis, Clarksville, and Chevy Chase. In 2008 the Columbia office expanded to 3,500 square feet of clinical floor space. Our pristine Columbia Main Office offers patients a Vein care Experience that is without equal in the region. Our suites were designed to maximize patient comfort and feature amenities like flat screen TVs. Our patients sit back, relax and enjoy their favorite movie during treatment. Dr. Calure has been designated as a national clinical trainer for the VNUS Closure Procedure by VNUS Medical, Inc. since 2006. He has trained dozens of other surgeons from across the United States and internationally in advanced vein care techniques.
