Trust the Experience of The National Leader in VNUS Closure

Follow the leader. Performing over 70 procedures each week, Maryland Vein Professionals does more Venefit procedures than any other practice in the United States, this according to Covidien. Despite the often confusing claims of other Centers and Vein Practices in the region, MVP has led the United States in Venefit experience since January 2007.

Maryland Vein Professionals has been designated as a National Center of Excellence for Vein Care, and we train surgeons from across the United States in Venefit and advanced techniques of minimally invasive vein care. At Maryland Vein Professionals we focus exclusively on the Specialty of Vein Care. We have a team of professionals exclusively dedicated to one purpose: to provide superlative vein care. Unlike most who offer vein care as a sidelight to another medical practice, MVP is devoted exclusively vein care, we perform no other medical services.

Although a variety of physicians may offer vein care, know that vein disease is not a cosmetic problem or a disorder limited to the skin. Varicose Veins are often the result of an underlying disorder of the circulatory system called venous insufficiency. Veins are an integral part of the circulatory system as are the heart and the arteries and, as such, deserve the specialized care offered by the Cardiovascular Surgeons with the training, knowledge, and experience in treating diseases of the blood vessels.

Our Facilities are Without Equal in the Region

Avoid the inconvenience and hassle of a hospital visit. You've got to see our pristine facilities. Using the new VNUS Fastcath®, treatment times are less than 2 minutes, and patients are in and out of the office in 60-90 minutes. At our Columbia Main Office and Annapolis Main Office designed exclusively for vein care, we treat our patients in a serene environment that offers a number of amenities. During treatments, our patients can relax as they enjoy a DVD or their iPod. Unlike others in the region who perform treatments in a standard, cramped, doctor's office, our surgicenter is custom designed for the exclusive purpose of providing state of the art minimally invasive vein care. See for yourself. Take our virtual tour.

Located in the heart of Maryland, the Columbia Main office has easy access from I-95 and Route 29. For patients who travel from a distance, we are located 15 minutes from the BWI Airport and have three hotels within walking distance. We recently completed an expansion of the main office facility, expanding our Vein Care Center to over 3500 square feet of pristine office space.

MVP proudly offers patients an additional surgicenter in Chevy Chase. This beautiful facility is also the home of the Practice of internationally renowned Dermasurgeon, Dr. Eric Finzi. Also known as an artist, Dr. Finzi's work adorns the walls of this modern surgicenter.

Am I a Candidate for Treatment?

Do your legs experience discomfort, swelling and varicose veins? If so, then you may be suffering from superficial venous reflux disease. Approximately 25 million people in the United States suffer from this condition. Traditionally, patients diagnosed with venous reflux would undergo vein stripping surgery. Now, an array of minimally invasive treatment modalities is available.

Varicose veins are known for their distinctive blue color and their bulging appearance on the skin. Resembling elongated worms, they afflict 10-20% of the adult population. Small "spider veins" or telangiectasias are a form of varicose vein disease, and often are the first sign of venous insufficiency. This circulatory disorder may present in a spectrum of many forms from spider veins to ulceration.

There is new safe, effective outpatient treatment using minimally invasive technology to treat varicose vein disease called Venefit. Maryland Vein Professionals is proud to be the National Leader in the Venefit Procedure. As part of our comprehensive array of treatment modalities for varicose vein disease, the Venefit procedure treats the underlying cause of varicose veins, not just the superficial appearance. With the new VNUS Fastcath®, treatment times are less than 2 minutes, and patients are in and out of the office in 60-90 minutes. Patients return to normal activity the same day. Our patients report little or no pain and treatment is covered by most insurance plans when deemed medically necessary as outlined in your insurance plans medical policy**. Our patients have the Venefit Procedure in our outpatient surgicenters custom designed for vein care by our Board Certified Cardiovascular Surgeons and Vascular Surgeons.

All too often women and men defer seeking care for their venous insufficiency, as varicose veins are frequently mischaracterized as a cosmetic problem. Sadly, some do not seek treatment until complications such as clots, ulcers or bleeding develops. Schedule a formal venous evaluation today. We have offices conveniently located in Columbia, Annapolis, Chevy Chase, Gambrills, and Salisbury, Maryland.

**Most insurance companies require documentation of conservative treatment, including use of medical grade compression stockings, leg elevation, use of anti-inflammatory medication (NSAIDs), and documentation of interference with daily activities. Please refer to your insurance plans medical policy on varicose vein treatment for criteria required for coverage.
