What type of doctor should be treating your veins? Veins are an integral part of the circulatory system and should be treated by a medical professional with the proper training, knowledge and experience with treating diseases of the blood vessels. Our physicians hold Board Certifications in either Cardiovascular or Vascular Surgery. If you seek care from a National Vein Care Franchise ask what, if any, Board Certification the Doctor holds. Additionally, at Maryland Vein Professionals, your surgeon will perform the entire Venefit procedure, not an assistant or technician who performs portions of the procedure, as they often do in other practices.
Maryland Vein Professionals is a National Center for Excellence for the latest techniques of minimally invasive vein care. MVP, a national leader in Venefit, performing up to 30 treatments a day, six days a week. With an experience of 30,000 procedures as of February 2014, the experience of Maryland Vein Professionals is tough to match anywhere in the country, if not the world. MVP was one of the first practices in the Washington-Baltimore Annapolis area to perform Venefit. Maryland Vein Professionals has been designated as a national clinical training center for the Venefit Procedure. We have trained dozens of other surgeons from across the United States and Internationally in advanced vein care techniques. See a live closure procedure on a nationally broadcast, morning news program.
Maryland Vein Professionals is devoted exclusively to vein care, unlike other centers or physicians in the region that treat vein disease actually as a sidelight to another medical specialty. The entire focus of our practice is state of the art, minimally invasive vein care. Unlike others, our facilities are designed exclusively for vein care. We have a team of Doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Sonographers, Sclerotherapists, and Administrative support personnel dedicated exclusively to your Vein Care. Most others offering Vein Care in the region do not offer sclerotherapy to treat spider veins, whereas our Sclerotherapists have over 40 years of combined experience. Click here to tour our facility.
We love our happy patients. Hear it from our patients themselves!
Perhaps this is why MVP has been selected by the University of Maryland School of Medical Sonography to be the training site for Venous Sonography. Critical to the proper treatment of venous disease is accurate sonographic diagnosis of problems of venous anatomy. We have a staff of seven accredited dedicated Venous Sonographers who work side by side with our providers to offer the most accurate diagnosis possible.. Our full time sonography staff is specially trained in venous ultrasound. Together we have a combined 30 year experience in this very specialized field. Your MVP sonographer is a specialist employed full time, not a part time subcontractor at a part time Vein Practice. For more information on our sonography staff, please click here.
The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) provides facility accreditation programs for noninvasive vascular. The ICAVL is a member division of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). The IAC is comprised of six member divisions, each ensuring quality patient care and promoting health care within a specific medical specialty, all dedicated to one common mission.
Today's health care organizations are held to high levels of accountability — by peers, by the general public and by Medicare and other payers. ICAVL accreditation is a means by which noninvasive vascular laboratories can evaluate and demonstrate the level of patient care they provide.
Committed to balancing the changing needs of both the vascular community and the general public, the ICAVL was created in 1990 by uniting physicians, technologists and sonographers from the sponsoring organizations. The physicians, technologists and sonographers on the ICAVL Board of Directors composed the Standards, an extensive document defining the minimal requirements for noninvasive vascular laboratories to provide high quality care. The ICAVL Standards are used by laboratories as both a guideline and the foundation to createand achieve realistic quality care goals.
The process begins with a comprehensive self-evaluation by laboratory staff. Completion of the application for accreditation requires information on all aspects of laboratory operation as well as the submission of actual case studies for review. After a laboratory submits the application to the ICAVL, the application undergoes a confidential peer-review by the ICAVL's trained reviewers, including physicians, technologists and sonographers, before a final decision is made by the Board of Directors.
Sclerotherapy is an important adjunct to comprehensive vein care. Unfortunately, not all centers offering Vein Care or VNUS Closure have a Sclerotherapy Service to address spider veins. Maryland Vein Professionals offers Sclerotherapy as part of our array of minimally invasive treatment options for vein disease. Our sclerotherapists have over 40 years experience doing sclerotherapy and have treated thousands of happy patients.
