
As a lifelong resident of Maryland, Dr. Calure has the distinction of practicing Cardiac Surgery in the Hospital of his birth, The Washington Adventist Hospital. Dr. Calure Completed his undergraduate degree in Aerospace
Engineering as a Chancellor's Scholar at The University of Maryland. While working part time as an engineer at The NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center, he earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Calure completed his General Surgery Residency as well as his Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Calure holds two certifications by the American Board of Medical Specialties; he is Board Certified in General Surgery and he is Board Certified in Thoracic-Cardiovascular Surgery.
He is trained in both classic open surgical technique, and is broadly trained in minimally invasive, video assisted and catheter based techniques.
Dr. Calure is one of the first physicians in the Baltimore-Washington area to perform Radiofrequency ablation to treat saphenous vein reflux, known as The ClosureŽ procedure. Dr. Calure currently performs 25-35 Closure Procedures per week and has one of the busiest practices devoted to Vein Care on the East Coast. He has performed over 2000 major cases including open heart surgeries, vascular and general surgeries. Dr. Calure's practice, Maryland Vein Professionals, is a National Center of Excellence for the techniques of Vein Care, and he has trained other Physicians in the latest techniques of Vein Care.
Mary Guise has dedicated her career to art and science of Sclerotherapy. She began her career in nursing
more than twenty years ago, and her in-patient experience includes Ob-Gyn, Pediatrics, Neuro-Surgical and Coronary Care patients. She now is a full time practitioner of Sclerotherapy.
For the past three years, Mary served as the Manager of Quality Assurance and Clinical Sclerotherapy Training for a national vein care franchise, before joining Dr. Calure at Maryland Vein Professionals. Mary has a passion for her art as she notes.Her career includes appointments for quality assurance and the training of new practitioners of sclerotherapy in the art of medium and small vein disease control. This included Physicians, and other registered nurses.
Mary comments, “In 1991 I obtained treatment for my vein disease. My disease had been severe enough to cause a venous stasis ulcer on my left leg. Having experienced excellent results and having experienced the sclerotherapy treatments first-hand, I am committing myself to improving the quality and care of patients that suffer as I had.”
Christie had served for more than a decade at the University of Maryland Medical System as a trauma and critical care nurse before joining Maryland Vein Professionals. After many years experience in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Christie worked at the R.A. Cowley Shock Trauma Facility, caring for Maryland's most critically injured patients. Christie had been acknowledged for her excellence as she is a recipient of the Shock Trauma H.E.R.O. award.
Rosanne has been a Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner in Howard County since 1996. She attended University of Maryland School of Nursing where she earned her R.N. and her Master's of Nursing. She has over ten years of experience in Primary Care, Cosmetic Laser, and Women's Health.
A native of Baltimore, Mary Dixon-Ferguson is a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with the
American Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Before joining Maryland Vein Professionals, Mary's career included clinical ultrasound, research and intraoperative ultrasound at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Prior to her appointments at the University of Maryland, Mary was the Senior Sonographer at Northwest Hospital. In 1980 Mary served as Maryland's President of the National Alliance of Cardiovascular Technologists. In 1991 Mary was instrumental in introducing ultrasound in the cardiac surgical arena for the University of Maryland Medical Center and Shock Trauma. Mary was the Chief Sonographer for Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and later promoted to the Supervisor of Intraoperative Echocardiography Service for the University of Maryland Hospital were she served for 14 years. Mary's interest in vascular disease began in the 1980 with pulse wave doppler, PRG's and OPG's in the diagnosis arterial and venous disease.
Nichelle graduated from Towson University with a BS in Health Science. She continued her education at Sanford Brown Institute where she completed her sonography training. Clinical experience at Washington Adventist Hospital led her to Maryland Vein Professionals where she serves as a vascular sonographer.
Sherrie lives with her two children in Annapolis, Maryland. She completed her sonography studies at The University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She has had clinical sonography experience at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Unit, The University of Maryland, The Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus, and North Arundel Medical Center. She joined Maryland Vein Professionals in Spring 2007.
Lindsay is a Maryland native and now resides in Owings Mills. She is a graduate of Towson University with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. She has been instrumental in the development of three prominent surgical practices in the Maryland region. She joined Dr. Calure and the Maryland Vein Professionals where she serves as the clinical coordinator of one of the busiest practices devoted to vein care in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan areas. Lindsay's responsibilities include the coordination of clinical care, patient outreach and practice development.
Edie graduated from Towson University with a Masters Degree in Education. After teaching for many years she is now the student, training to be a certified vascular sonographer for Maryland Vein Professionals. Currently she serves as Chief Technician.
